When can I start using my card?
You can use debit cards to shop online right away, and new credit cards as soon as you’ve viewed and accepted the key information in the Westpac One® app. EFTPOS cards can be used as soon as they’ve been issued from the branch.
EFTPOS cards.
You can get a new EFTPOS card for your account, set your PIN at any Westpac branch and use it right away.
Debit cards.
- Shop online with the digital version of your card in Westpac One® digital banking as soon as your account is opened.
- You can also add your card straight away to your Apple Pay™ or Google Pay™ mobile wallet and shop in-store.
- Your physical debit card should be with you within 10 days and you can set your PIN in digital banking and activate it by calling us, making a transaction in-store or using an ATM.
New credit cards.
- Once you’ve been approved for a new Westpac credit card, you’ll be able to view and accept the key information through the Westpac One® app to start using your digital card straight away. You’ll still need to follow the instructions to activate your physical card when you receive it.
- We’ll include a step-by-step guide on how to activate your card and you can set your PIN in digital banking.
Replacement credit cards.
If you’ve cancelled your credit card, you can continue to shop in-store with your mobile wallet until your replacement card arrives.

Things you should know.
If you’re new to Westpac and we don’t have a verified copy of your identity, address and income, you’ll need to bring proof to your nearest branch before you can start using your card.

Apple Pay and Google pay are available to all eligible Westpac debit and credit Mastercard® customers. Excludes Mastercard BusinessCard, Business Prepaid Mastercard, Prepaid and Global Currency cards. Customers also need a compatible Apple or Android device.
