What do I need to do now that I've received my Westpac debit or credit card?
How to activate your card
If your identity, address and income verification is complete and you have a PIN, you can activate your card by using it at any EFTPOS terminal with your PIN, or by requesting an account balance at any ATM. You can also partially activate your card by calling us on 0800 888 111. You’ll then be able to use your card for online and digital wallet transactions, but it will need to be fully activated at a later date in order to use the physical card in store. This can be done by using it at any EFTPOS terminal with your PIN, or by requesting an account balance at an ATM.
If your identity, address and income verification is complete but you don’t have a PIN, you can set your PIN via Westpac One® Online banking. After you’ve set your PIN, you’ll just have to make a transaction that requires your PIN, or use an ATM, to finish activating your card.
If your identity, address and income verification is not complete, please visit your local branch.
Additional information for joint account holders
When there are joint credit card account holders who each hold a card for the account, both joint account holders will need to activate their card before the account can be used by following the steps set out under ‘How to activate your card’ above.
If you have been added as a joint account card holder to an existing credit card account, the original account holder will be unaffected and will continue to be able to use their card. You simply need to activate your card by following the steps set out under ‘How to activate your card’ above.
Conditions of Use for the applicable card apply.
