How to activate your card

If your identity, address and income verification is complete and you have a PIN, you can activate your card by using it at any EFTPOS terminal with your PIN, or by requesting an account balance at any ATM. You'll be able to use your physical card for payments after this.

To partially activate your card so you can make purchases online or with your digital wallet, call us on 0800 888 111. You’ll be able to use your physical card for contactless payments after the first transaction you make in-store or at an ATM with your PIN.

If your identity, address and income verification is complete but you don’t have a PIN, you can set your PIN in Westpac One® online banking. After you’ve set your PIN, finish activating your card by making a purchase in-store using your PIN, or use an ATM.

Additional information for joint account holders

When there are joint credit card account holders who each hold a card for the account, both joint account holders will need to activate their card before the account can be used by following the steps set out under ‘How to activate your card’ above.

If you have been added as a joint account card holder to an existing credit card account, the original account holder will be unaffected and will continue to be able to use their card. You simply need to activate your card by following the steps set out under ‘How to activate your card’ above.
