 How to set up Apple Pay with Westpac

Set up is easy. Here's how: 

  • Set up iPhone

    1. Open the Wallet app, tap the “+” sign in the upper-right corner and follow the promptsWallet

    2. Tap next, read and agree to the terms & conditions

    3. For security reasons, we may send you a verification code via SMS when adding your Westpac card to Apple Pay 

    Set up Apple Watch

    1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone

    2. Tap “Wallet & Apple Pay”, then tap “Add Credit or Debit Card” and follow the prompts

    Start enjoying Apple Pay.

How to make a payment

Once you’re set up, making a payment is easy. You can use Apple Pay wherever you see a contactless payment symbol.

  • Face ID on iPhone

    To pay with Face ID, just double-click the side button, glance at your screen, then hold your iPhone next to the contactless reader.

  • Touch ID on iPhone

    To pay with Touch ID, hold your iPhone next to the contactless reader with your finger on touch ID.

  • Watch payment

    Apple Watch

    To pay using Apple Watch, double-click the side button and hold Apple Watch up to the contactless reader.

Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service provided by Apple that allows users to make payments in person, in iOS apps, and online.

It can be used across eligible Apple devices including the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac.

You can update your mobile phone number through any of the 3 options:

  • In Westpac One online banking – the Online Guardian 30 day period applies.
  • By calling the Contact Centre on 0800 WESTPAC
  • Find your nearest local Westpac Branch.

Note: updating mobile number in-Branch or with Contact Centre will be effective immediately.

On your iPhone, go to Settings / General / Software Update

You will be reminded if you don’t have the latest updates.

No. You can receive an SMS with a verification code during the set up to any registered phone. You will just need to manually input this code into your eligible iOS device. 

Yes! You can load the same card onto multiple devices.

To set up Apple Pay on your iPad, follow the instructions:

  1. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay
  2. Tap Add Credit or Debit card
  3. Follow the steps to add a new card. If you’re asked to add the card that you use with iTunes, cards on other devices, or cards that you’ve recently removed, choose them, then enter the card security codes.
  4. Tap Next.

You may be asked to verify your card. The verification code will be sent to the mobile number you registered with Westpac.

Once we’ve verified your card, go back to Setting > Wallet & Apple Pay and tap your card, then tap Next.

To add a card to Apple Pay, you need a Mac model with Touch ID.

On Mac models without a built-in Touch ID, you can complete your purchase using Apple Pay on your eligible iPhone or Apple Watch.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and turn on 'Allow Payments on Mac'.

  1. To add a card to your Mac model with Touch ID
  2. Go to System Preferences > Wallet & Apple Pay
  3. Tap Add Card
  4. Follow the steps to add a new card. If you’re asked to add the card that you use with iTunes, just enter its security code.
  5. Tap Next.

You may be asked to verify your card. The verification code will be sent to the mobile number you registered with Westpac.

Once we’ve verified your card go to System Preferences > Wallet & Apple Pay and tap your card, then tap Next.

No, there is no cost to use or set up Apple Pay.

Unfortunately no. Apple Pay with Westpac is only available on eligible debit and credit Mastercards.
