How to apply.

To join or transfer to the Westpac KiwiSaver Scheme you'll need to be a NZ citizen or permanent resident, and be living in New Zealand. It's a good idea to know your fund choice and have your IRD number handy. Once you've applied, we'll take care of the rest. 

In the app:

  1. Go to Accounts, scroll then go to Open/Apply

  2. Go to KiwiSaver and investments, and select Apply
  3. Under KiwiSaver go to Apply

  4. Read Things to know, then go to Get started

     

  5. If we don’t have your email address, we’ll ask you to add it, then go to Next

  6. Choose your fund
    • If you know the fund you want to invest in, select Choose fund.
    • Or go to the Westpac KiwiSaver Scheme Fund Chooser, answer a few questions and get your recommendation in minutes. Then select Choose fund.
    Check or add your IRD number and your Prescribed Investor Rate, then choose Next
  7. Check your details, read the application terms and Product Disclosure Statement, then go to Agree and submit application
Once you've applied

We’ll let you know if your application is approved or if we need more information from you. Next we'll set up your Westpac KiwiSaver Scheme account in Westpac One. You'll see it on your Accounts screen within a few days. If you're transferring from another provider, we’ll also organise for your balance to be transferred over. This normally takes about 10 working days.

In online banking:

If you’re new to Westpac, to join through the website you'll need to have handy:

  • Your New Zealand driver licence or New Zealand passport
  • Utility bill or bank statement for proof of address
  • Your IRD number
  • Your mobile phone.
