Like an EFTPOS card, a debit card links to one of your transaction accounts – so when you use it, you’re spending money that’s in your account.

And a debit card has some other added benefits: you can use it online, over the phone and overseas – anywhere you can use a credit card. All of our debit cards also come with the added protection of CardGuard™.

Finally, having a debit card gives you the option of our Airpoints™ Debit Mastercard®, where you’ll earn Airpoints on your everyday purchases1.

If you have misplaced your debit or credit card, don't panic. You can now temporarily block and unblock your card instantly in Westpac One with Card Blocker. To learn how, click here.

If your card is lost or stolen report it to us immediately, by calling 0800 888 111 (or if you're outside New Zealand +64 9 914 8026), at any time of day or night. If you are calling us after 11pm NZ time, press 1.

Yes, you are very welcome to apply for a Westpac credit card, whether you have another account with us or not. Have a look at our fantastic range of cards here and when you've found the one you want, you can simply apply online, using the link on the card page.

You can also download a form here, give us a call on 0800 177 277, 8am-8:30pm Monday-Friday, or visit your nearest Westpac branch with suitable identification together with proof of income and address.

Airpoints™ Dollars are associated with your Air New Zealand Airpoints account.So any Airpoints Dollars earned using another bank’s credit card will be credit to that Airpoints account, as well Airpoints Dollars earned on your Westpac credit card.
