If you wish to close your other card, you’ll need to arrange it with your other provider, as well as take care of any outstanding or upcoming payments and interest.
New purchases and cash advances.
To qualify for interest free days on purchases, you’ll need to pay the full outstanding balance on your credit card statement by the payment due date excluding any balances transferred.
If you have outstanding cash, purchases or interest and fee balances on your card, the standard interest rates will apply (as outlined in your card's Conditions of Use).
Interest free days are not available on cash advances, balance transfers or interest and fees.
What the balance transfer rate applies to.
The 5.95% p.a. balance transfer rate1 only applies to balances transferred until that balance has been repaid in full.
All credit card repayments you make will first go to charges and interest accrued, then to cash advances and purchases, followed by balance transfers.
This means any balance transfer amount won't start being paid off until any cash advances or purchases made on your card have been paid in full. For more check Balance Transfer.
Things you should know.
1Rate will apply to balance(s) transferred until that balance(s) is paid off. All applications are subject to Westpac approval. You cannot transfer a balance from a Westpac card or loan. All new purchases, cash advances and any unpaid interest or fees will incur interest at the standard interest rate in accordance with the card's Conditions of Use.
Airpoints Dollars™ can only be earned on purchases. Cash advances and balance transfers are excluded from earning Airpoints Dollars1.
There is no fee to transfer a balance to your Westpac credit card. Interest is charged on balances transferred, where applicable. Find out more about our other credit card fees and interest rates.
You can only transfer up to 95% of your available credit card limit. This ensures there's enough limit to cover any fees or charges that may be charged to your card. Your card must remain within its credit limit after the balance has been transferred. Balances cannot be transferred to a Mastercard® BusinessCard/Purchasing Card. Balance transfers do not earn Airpoints Dollars™ or hotpoints®. You must close any facilities indicated in this application as being repaid by the Balance Transfer. Full Balance Transfer Terms and conditions apply.
Applications are subject to lending criteria.
If you only make the minimum payment each month, you will pay more interest and it will take you longer to pay off the unpaid balance.
