How do I set up, change or cancel a direct debit?
Direct debits let a business take payments directly from your bank account. They are organised by the business you’re paying (like your power or internet provider).
You can also pay bills in digital banking where you can choose the payment date that suits you.
Set up a new direct debit.
- Contact the business you want to pay. They’ll help you set up your direct debit online, by phone, or with a form. You'll need your customer reference number and your bank account details
- They’ll let you know how long it takes and when payments will start.
Change a direct debit.
Only the business you’re paying can update the account or direct debit details. You’ll need to get in touch with them directly.
Check a direct debit.
You can check if a payment has gone out in your Westpac One digital banking. For more details, contact the business you’re paying.
Cancel a direct debit.
To cancel a direct debit, contact the business and ask them to stop the payments on their end.
