Your future starts here.

When you join Westpac, you’re joining a team full of passionate and talented people from all walks of life who are inspired by our purpose of creating better futures together. It’s what we do, who we are and why we come to work every day. What's most important to us is understanding what a better future means to our customers and helping them get there. If you’re passionate about helping our customers, communities and Aotearoa we’d love to have you on our team.

As a Westpac grad, you'll work as part of our collaborative teams to design innovative products, experiences and solutions, to shape the future of banking in Aotearoa.

Applications for our 2026 graduate programme open in July.

Shape what’s next with us.

From day one, start with us as a permanent employee. We offer an immersive 12-month graduate development programme, including coaching and mentoring support to help you navigate your journey at Westpac; tailored workshops to guide and strengthen your leadership and interpersonal skills; and a project for you to own and manage.

Depending on the area of the business you are in, you may complete a rotational programme to help you to learn about different parts of your business area, gaining exposure to different teams, methodologies and project experiences.

Your People Leader will guide you in your day-to-day work, schedule catch-ups to discuss your performance, development and any questions, concerns or feedback you have.

As you get closer to the end of your first 12-months, we’ll help you progress into a suitable position and continue your journey in Westpac as a university graduate alumni.

Start your application

Apply through our careers website with your CV, cover letter and academic transcript (an unofficial transcript is acceptable) and answer the pre-screening application questions carefully and truthfully. Online assessments

Culture assessment: If your application(s) progresses, you’ll be invited to complete an online culture assessment which looks at how you align with our values and culture. You’ll receive an email detailing what you need to do and the specific deadlines to complete it – this may only be 72 hours. Tip: Make sure you keep an eye on your emails and remember to check your junk/spam folders. One-way video interview: Those who progress further will be invited to complete a short video interview. You’ll be asked to submit a video of yourself answering three questions so we can get to know you better. This is your chance to shine, so bring your ‘A’ game! You’ll not be able to pause, stop or restart the interview so remember to check your mic and camera, and dress as you would for a formal interview. Tip: Get a feel for the process first by recording yourself answering interview questions, and then watch it back to check your confidence, body language and ability to answer the questions being asked.

Interviews and assessments

For successful applicants, the final stages involve attending online or in-person interviews, an online cognitive assessment followed by a virtual "Warm Welcome to Westpac" call. In this virtual session, you’ll get to know us better, meet some of the team, and ask them what it’s really like to work here. The process gives you the chance to see if you connect with us and decide whether we’re the right place for you.
