How do I use Google Pay?
Google Pay™ is accepted at millions of places around the world. It works anywhere contactless payments are accepted and it is free to use in apps, on websites and in stores without the need for an internet connection.
Look for the symbols.
Look for the contactless or Google Pay symbols.
If you’re travelling overseas, we do recommend you take your Westpac debit or credit Mastercard® as a backup and tell us when and where you’re going in Westpac One® so we can help to protect your cards and payments better while you’re away.
How to pay in-store.
- Hold the back of your phone close to the contactless payment reader for a few seconds
- When you’re done paying, a blue check mark will appear on the screen
- Some stores use software that asks for a PIN or signature. If you’re asked, follow the steps on the screen.
Pay in apps or on websites.
You can use Google Pay™ in apps or on websites if you see these buttons at checkout:
- Go to the Google Pay button
- If asked, choose a payment method (this is the Westpac Mastercard® you wish to pay with) and enter your shipping address
- Confirm your order.
Things you can't do.
You can’t use Google Pay:
- At contactless enabled ATMs – you’ll need to your physical cards
- Over the counter at bank branches – you’ll need your physical cards
- To withdraw cash at retailers.
