How long does a cheque stay valid?
Personal cheques are valid for six months from the date of issue after which they become stale.
Unlike personal cheques, bank cheques do not go stale after six months.
If a stale cheque is presented to us, we may:
- Pay the cheque
- Decline to pay the cheque, or
- Make any further enquiry we consider necessary before deciding whether to pay or not to pay the cheque.
