Why am I receiving my statement by email?
You may be receiving your bank statement by email instead of post because we’re providing more ways for customers to receive information digitally.
We take steps to protect your information, and there are also steps you can take to reduce risk when using email.
How to keep your information safe.
Use a secure inbox and device
- Only open your statement attachments on a private device.
- Avoid public or shared computers and public Wi Fi.
- Check you’re logged out of email on devices you no longer use.
Check who can access your email
- Review access to shared inboxes.
- Remove access for anyone who no longer needs it.
Keep your details and inbox tidy
- Let us know promptly if your email address changes.
- Download and save your statements on a private device.
- Delete statements when you no longer need them.
Protect your email account
- Use a strong password for your email.
- Westpac emails will never ask for your login details such as username, password or other security-related information.
What to do if something doesn’t look right.
If you receive an email or attachment you weren’t expecting, think your email has been compromised, or believe your statement was sent to the wrong address, don’t open any attachments and contact us as soon as possible so we can investigate and help.
If you think someone else may have accessed your inbox, change your email password.
Other ways to receive your statements.
The easiest way to view and manage your statements is through digital banking.
If you’re not using digital banking, your statement may be sent to you by email as a PDF attachment. You’ll continue to receive statements at the same frequency as you do today.
