Make an automatic payment

Paying someone has never been easier. Because now, you can do it from the one place – regardless of the type of payment you want to make. You can set up, edit, suspend and cancel automatic payments.

Things you can edit online Things you can't edit online
  • Amount
  • Account you want to pay with
  • Start date
  • Who you're paying to (recipient) - including their name
  • Frequency - includes 'repeating', weekends and public holidays
  • Last payment date
  • Payment details - reference, Payee, Payer

If you need to change things that cannot be done online, you will need to cancel the payment and create a new one.

    To create an automatic payment, set up a payment as normal but before opting to 'Continue' select the date field to define payment start date and frequency. Choose the first payment date for your automatic payment then select the 'Repeat Payment' drop down.

    Choose the other details for the automatic payment from the drop down boxes if a change is required. Add a name for the automatic payment. Select 'Done' then 'Continue'.

    Check the details of your payment. If you want to change the details, select '<'. If you want to continue select 'Confirm Payment'

    To view an existing Automatic Payment, select 'Pay and Transfer'

    Select the 'Planned payments' tab

    Locate the payment you want to edit and select.

    Here you have various options. You can edit, cancel, suspend or skip the next payment.

    From the payments screen, tap 'Make a payment or transfer'.

    Enter your payment details. Tap on the calendar icon and select the start date and frequency of your payment (automatic payments only work for payments to NZ recipients).

    You can also choose the number of automatic payments to be made and a different payment amount for the final automatic payment.

    Now you can skip, suspend and resume automatic payments that are already set up in Westpac One… To do this, select the payment you wish to edit, located in ‘Planned payments’.

    From here you can skip, suspend, or cancel your automatic payment. You can also resume your automatic payments by selecting the payment you wish to resume, located in ‘Planned payments’.
