The Chief Operating Office (COO) consists of teams focused on improving our capabilities and optimising the way we work in Consumer Banking & Wealth. The COO helps to develop and implement strategies to achieve Westpac's Consumer Banking goals, understanding what a better future means to our customers and helping them get there while overseeing day-to-day operations to make sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Working in our COO will give you exposure and connections with many different parts of Westpac, opening many doors to grow your career!

Who do we want?

Grads from a wide range of disciplines can succeed in roles supporting our customer facing teams; majors in Finance, Business or Accounting will help but your passion for serving our customers and building relationships is the real plus for these roles.

Corporate Banking.

What you can expect

Our customer facing roles work with our business and corporate customers. You’ll work alongside our business/corporate banking teams in areas such as financial analysis and relationship management where you’ll build thorough knowledge of Westpac’s banking products and services as well as industry expertise. You’ll assist with the analysis of financial information and preparation of customers’ credit submissions whilst supporting our Relationship Managers in identifying new customer and business opportunities. There’s lots of room to grow your career across our corporate banking teams.

Who do we want?

Graduates from a wide range of disciplines can succeed in our corporate banking customer facing roles; a bachelor's degree in business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related disciplines will help but your passion for serving our customers and building relationships is the real plus for these roles.

Where will you work?

Auckland initially but we have locations across the motu (island), from Whangārei to Invercargill and everywhere in between.

Future career opportunities:

A wide range of opportunities await you in our business/corporate banking teams. Grow your career as an Analyst across our business/corporate banking teams and work your way up to a Relationship Manager.

Institutional Banking / Corporate & Structured Finance/Transaction Banking.

What you can expect

You'll work alongside our Institutional and Corporate & Structured Finance teams in areas such as relationship management where you’ll build thorough knowledge of Westpac’s banking products and services as well as industry expertise. You’ll assist with the analysis of financial information and preparation of customers’ credit submissions. Working with the Corporate & Structured Finance team you’ll learn how they develop tailored funding solutions for our Institutional, Corporate and Agribusiness customers. You’ll also rotate through our Transactional Banking team, who provide specialist advice and support which  includes inward and outward payments, cash management, data management and solution delivery to customers with complex banking requirements.  

We're made up of a number of teams and individuals across New Zealand that work collaboratively to deliver effective solutions to customers which help improve efficiency, reduce risk and add value to their banking relationship.

Agribusiness Banking.

What you can expect

You'll learn about how we deliver banking services and support to the backbone of the New Zealand economy, the farming sector. From dairy and livestock farming to fruit, vegetable and crop growing.

Our Agribusiness employees are specialists in the delivery of banking solutions for our farming customers, with many of our staff coming from a farming background themselves. We have a deep understanding and commitment to our agriculture and horticulture customers.

Who do we want?

Anyone with a passion for our farming communities, who wants to be part of serving the farming sector. You may have studied a relevant discipline such as Agri, Business or Finance, have business acumen, or a background in Agriculture/Agribusiness.

Where will you work?

You’ll be based in Canterbury or Waikato.

Future career opportunities:

Grow your career as an Agribusiness Analyst or Agribusiness Manager and work your way up to Agribusiness Portfolio Manager or Agribusiness Area Manager. We have locations across the motu (island), from Whangārei to Invercargill and everywhere in between.

Financial Markets.

What you can expect

Our Graduate programme will give you an experience like no other working within our dynamic Financial Markets team. Working with our Financial Markets team you’ll get exposure to helping our customers with execution and risk management across a variety of foreign exchange, interest rate and commodity products. Financial Markets have extensive experience and knowledge in both local and offshore markets, and are able to help advise everyone from consumer and small business customers through to large corporates and major institutional investors. They are a truly global team spread across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, and America. You can expect a number of rotations across the various business units that make up Financial Markets. This could include Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate Sales, Trading, Economics, Strategy and Debt Capital Markets.
