It’s reasonably well-known that public transport is free on weekdays for senior citizens, but there are thousands of other discounts available for people over 65 that are less common knowledge.

Countdown supermarkets (selected stores) offer a 5% discount to SuperGold Card holders on Tuesdays. The card must be scanned at the checkout to apply the discount and some products aren’t included in the offer, such as tobacco products and lottery tickets.
New World supermarkets (selected stores) offer a 5% discount to seniors every Tuesday when $40 or more is spent on a single transaction.
Grocery delivery via the Student Volunteer Army offer their service for $9 (instead of $15) for SuperGold Card holders. Those who also have a Community Services Card only have to pay $3.
My Food Bag offers $40 off SuperGold Card holders’ first Bargain Box order, their first Fresh Start order and their first My Food Bag Order.
The Coffee Club offers 10% off the total bill for seniors. Coffee Club in Lynn Mall offers 20% off between Monday to Friday.
Genesis Energy offers up to $200 credit for SuperGold Card holders who sign up, as well as 11% off their monthly bill.
Spark offers a $30 account credit with Call Screen purchases. Call Screen has call blocking technology that helps protect users from scam calls.
2degrees offers a $5 discount per month on a Pay Monthly mobile plan and a $5 discount per month off a Broadband bill. Pay Monthly mobile customers save an additional $10 per month off their Broadband bill.
Vodafone NZ offers a Gold Plan for seniors, which provides 60GB of data for $40 per month on a 12-month term. The plan also includes a landline phone connection and free modem. They also offer a further $10 per month discount for Vodafone mobile customers.
Elgas Limited offers 15% off domestic LPG and $100 worth of LPG gas credits when an account is opened. Quote the promo code SGNZ for the credit.
Specsavers offers half price eye tests with an advanced 3D scan and 25% off the total price of one pair of glasses from $169.
MoleMap offers $50 off a full body MoleMap appointment at one of their 40 locations around New Zealand.
NZ Online Chemist offers free prescriptions for fully subsidised medicines and free delivery when five or more items are in one order. They also offer 10% off all retail shop purchases.
Unichem (selected stores) offer 10% off purchases, free flu vaccines and free blood pressure checks. Check your local Unichem for available discounts.
Eyepro offer 15% off all spectacle frames and have 65 locations nationwide.
Caltex stations offer 2 cents off each litre of fuel – therefore it’ll cost 8 cents per litre everyday (6 cents pumped + 2 cents SuperGold) and 12 cents per litre on Super Pumped Day (10 cents pumped + 2 cents SuperGold). The offer is available at 132 locations across New Zealand.
Kiwi Fuelcards for seniors offer special rates on fuel, with up to 11 cents off per litre. The cards can be used at Mobil, Caltex and BP sites nationwide.
Budget Rent A Car offers 10% off their daily rental rates for seniors with their SuperGold Card. They have 40 locations around New Zealand.
Challenge Fuel offers a minimum of 8 cents per litre every day and selected South Island stores offer up to 12 cents off per litre.
Avis Rent A Car offers 10% off car rentals for seniors.
Fable Hotels & Resorts offer 15% off their website deals, using the promo code: SUPERGOLD when booking.
Scenic Hotel Group offers 23% off accommodation with the SuperGold Card – using the promo code GOLDNZ.

Heritage Hotel Queenstown offers a Bed & Breakfast package to seniors from $155 per night, including a complimentary bottle of Central Otago Pinot Noir on arrival.
Millennium Hotels offer special rates for seniors across their 12 locations nationwide. This also includes Kingsgate Hotels and Copthorne Hotels, with Bed & Breakfast rates from $129 per night.
Event Cinemas offer movie vouchers for seniors from $11.00.
Hoyts Cinemas offer $8 movie tickets for sessions starting before 5pm every day.
MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) offers free entry for SuperGold Card holders.
Coopers Beach Combined Bowling Club offers a first-year membership for $70 to seniors.
Te Papa Museum offers buy one, get one free coffee in the Te Papa Café and Espresso Café.
