Create a new international payment.

  1. Select Pay & Transfer from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select International payment.
  3. (Optional) select a payment template you want to use to create your payment.
  4. Select the country your payment is going to.
  5. Select the account you are paying from.
  6. Select the currency your payee will receive.
  7. Enter an amount under I'm paying or Converted amount to send to view the exchange rate.
    Exchange rate fields Note: Sending NZD overseas may incur a $5 Telegraphic Transfer Fee. To avoid this, send your payment in the local currency of the destination country.
  8. Choose who will pay the receiving bank fee.
  9. Enter the receiving bank details. You’ll need:
    • The bank country
    • The bank identifier type and code, for example IBAN/BSB
  10. Enter the payee details.
  11. (Optional) Enter statement details. These appear on your statement only.
  12. Enter the reason for the payment if required.
  13. (Optional) Enter an email address to receive a remittance advice.
  14. Select one of the following:
    • Save draft to finish the payment later
    • Next to review the payment details
    • Review the payment details.
  15. (Optional) Select Save as a template to reuse these details for future payments.
  16. Select Back if you need to make changes.
  17. Select Confirm and pay to approve the payment or submit it for approval if your organisation requires dual approval.

Manage and approve international payments.

Approve, view, edit, and delete international payments following the same steps as domestic payments. However, there are additional things to be aware of.

  • Exchange rates are valid for 5 minutes from when the payment is created.
  • If more than 5 minutes have passed, select Refresh on the Approve payment screen to view the updated exchange rate.
  • If you do not approve the payment before the cut‑off time and date, the payment date will move to the next banking day.
  1. Select Pay & Transfer from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select Manage payments and transfers.
  3. Select the tab with the status of the payment you want to manage:
    • Your approval. Payments that need your approval
    • Pending. Payments that are scheduled, processing, or waiting for approval by someone else
    • Drafts. Partially completed payments that haven’t been sent for approval yet
    • Processed. Completed payments.
  4. You can then approve, edit, view, or delete the payment.

Create a new international payment template.

Follow these steps to create an international payment template without making a payment. You can select the template to automatically fill in the details for a future international payment.

Note: The exchange rate won’t be displayed in the template. You’ll see that when you create and approve your payment using the template.

  1. Select Pay & Transfer from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select Payment templates.
  3. Select Create new template.
  4. Select International payment template.
  5. Give your template a name, then fill in the template details, following the same instructions as creating a new payment.
  6. When you’ve added all your details, select Create template.
  7. You can then select your template when creating an international payment.

Edit an international payment template.

  1. Select Pay & Transfer from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select Payment templates.
  3. Select the template you want to edit and make your changes.
  4. When you’ve made your changes, select Save template.
