What are investment assets?

Investment assets are something that are designed to make money. There are a wide range of assets to invest in:

• Growth assets - like shares and listed property. They’re a higher risk option for investors but have the potential to generate greater returns over time.
• Income assets – like cash and fixed interest investments (also known as bonds). They’re a lower risk option for investors but typically have lower or more stable returns.

Our funds invest in the same assets just in different ratios. For example, the Active Series Growth Fund invests 80% in growth assets and 20% income assets. This mix aims for higher long-term returns, but it also means you'll need to be comfortable with big ups and downs in your balance along the way. If you don't like seeing big ups and downs in your balance, other Active Series funds invest in less growth assets and more in income assets, generally offering slower, steady returns over time, with less ups and downs.
