To avoid currency conversions by other banks on payments being received into New Zealand, consider opening a foreign currency account with Westpac and requesting the sender include 'do not convert' in the message. This reduces the likelihood of the other bank converting the payment before it arrives.

If you want to receive funds into your foreign currency account, you’ll need to send your foreign currency account number along with other payment details to the sender. Read more information on what your sender will need.

If we receive an international payment in a different currency than the currency of the destination account we'll convert the payment to the currency of the account at our current foreign exchange rates, use our currency converter to see indicative rates for receiving currency from overseas.
