Mark Weenink is the GM Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Legal Services & General Counsel New Zealand, and joined us in August 2015.
Before joining Westpac Mark was Managing Partner at Minter Ellison Rudd Watts (MERW), one of the leading law firms in New Zealand. Mark is a deeply experienced finance lawyer with broad strategic business leadership capability, a good understanding of and strong experience in Banking and Finance law within New Zealand and internationally.
Prior to MERW where he has practised since 2008, Mark held senior legal roles with Challenger Financial Services Group in Sydney, and with McDermott, Will & Emery in London. He spent his early legal career with Bell Gully in Auckland.
Mark’s legal expertise has been recognised in numerous industry awards, including being named as one of the ALB Magazine’s “hottest” lawyers in 2010 recognising his innovative strategic work for MERW.
Mark is a New Zealander who obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the Victoria University of Wellington and his MBA (Corporate Finance) from Massey University.
