Jonathan Mason has more than 30 years’ experience as a Chief Financial Officer in major corporates operating in competitive markets in the USA and New Zealand. He was appointed to the Westpac New Zealand Limited Board on 18 June 2015 and Chair of Westpac New Zealand Limited’s Board Audit Committee from December 2015.
Jonathan was appointed to the Vector and Zespri Boards in May 2013 and to the Air New Zealand Board in March 2014. He is currently Chair of the Zespri Audit and Risk Committee. Jonathan is also a Director of New Zealand Assets Management Limited and holds various other directorships and governance roles.
Earlier governance experience includes seven years on the board of Carter Holt Harvey as well as being a Director of a US-based investment funds business, Natixis. He also held not-for-profit board roles at his own University, Beloit College and for the University of Auckland Foundation. Jonathan serves as an Adjunct Professor of Management at the University of Auckland, specialising in international finance.
Jonathan joined Fonterra in 2009 as Chief Financial Officer from US-based chemicals company Cabot Corporation where he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this he was employed as the Chief Financial Officer at forest products company Carter Holt Harvey and also held senior financial management positions at US-based International Paper.
