The highest apartment in New Zealand will sit 52 storeys above Auckland, have 360-degree views of the city and harbour, and cost as much as a good Powerball win.

The 52-storey Seascape Apartments, which will be the highest residential building in New Zealand, will transform the Auckland skyline when it is completed in 2021.

The sophisticated luxury residential tower, will be the second tallest structure in the country after the Sky Tower and will house a health club, spa, garden bar, fitness area, retail and office space. Underground car parking will be located on Customs Street East.

The project is a development by New Zealand-based property company Shundi Customs and is designed by architects Peddle Thorp, with Mott Macdonald as engineers. China Construction New Zealand will be responsible for the building works.

The 221 apartments have been designed to maximise liveability, quality and to maximise outdoor space.

Harrison Shao, General Manager of Shundi Customs, introduced the floor plan in details:

“There will be four types of standard apartments ranging from single bedroom apartments to three-bedrooms with duplex apartments (over two levels). There are five levels of sub-penthouses with two of these on each floor, four levels of penthouse and one duplex master penthouse which will occupy the top two floors.”

Shao said the penthouses would vary from approximately 220 to 350 square metres, and have three to five bedrooms depending on the different levels. The master penthouse will have five bedrooms.

Though the penthouse has not been put on the market yet, it is expected to cost around $20 million.

Seascape Ext Looking up

Standing 187 metres tall, Seascape Apartments will guarantee their residents arrive home safe and sound - and fast.

“Seascape will have four high speed guest lifts which operate at 6m/s. There will also be a specialised lift to the penthouse and master penthouse levels straightway. The two podium level commercial lifts and the goods lift are separated from the guest lift area to ensure privacy and convenience for each users.” Mr Shao said.

Thanks to collaboration between the developer, architects, engineers and Auckland City Council UDP team, all apartments are 100% north-orientated with fully enclosable balconies and ultra-clear glass which will give the residents the luxury of balcony living without constraints of rainy or windy days. The building has been designed with the elevators on the south side of the structure to ensure that every apartment will have sunlight and magnificent Waitemata Harbour views.
