Young netballers get private session with Silver Fern

Netballers from Auckland’s Bayfield Primary School have been treated to a private coaching session with Silver Fern and Northern Mystics player, Anna Harrison.

Anna took the girls through 90-minutes or various drills and training techniques after the school in Herne Bay won a For Everyone Charitable Foundation Ambassador Competition.

For Everyone, founded by Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and Ali Williams, helps fund small projects that cost $5,000 or less.

Earlier this year school-age netball teams from around Auckland were asked to answer questions about For Everyone and pay a donation, giving them a chance to win a coaching session with one of two celebrated Kiwi netballers, Cat Latu or Anna Harrison.

Cat and Anna have recently joined For Everyone as new ambassadors for the charity.

The Foundation hopes to run similar competitions in other regions in the future.

For Everyone spokesperson Kate Ward-Smythe says, “The competition provided a great opportunity for Kiwis to help their fellow Kiwis by sharing their skills and passion for what they do best. It was also a great way for kids to learn more about what the foundation does.”

For Everyone has helped fund more than 80 projects since it started in 2009 and has recently partnered with Westpac to reach more communities.

Westpac Ponsonby bank manager Deepa Dias says, “It’s encouraging to see our local netball teams getting behind the great work For Everyone is doing in communities around New Zealand. To win the competition and a private coaching session is well deserved and will no doubt be a special experience they’ll remember for a long time.

Funding for grants is generated through a percentage of sales from For Everyone water and the charity single, Song For Everyone; as well as sponsorships, donations and events.
