Two young moviemakers were selected as the winners of the NZ Police’s Be Safe, Feel Safe Film Festival last night at a prize giving in Auckland.
The NZ Police invited Auckland students to tell their stories on being and feeling safe so that they can connect to, engage and influence other young people.
In the Senior category (16-18yrs), “What you don’t know” entered by Matavei Fatupaito was awarded first prize and took home $2,500.00 as well as $2500.00 going to her school.
Alison Koch’s “Hollow Walls” was selected as the Junior category (11-15yrs) winner and was awarded $1000.00 and $4,000.00 going to her school.
Run by the Auckland City Police and supported by Westpac, each film could be no more than 5 minutes and had to focus on one of the following themes: Alcohol / Drugs / Organised Crime / Bullying and Harassment / Mental Health / Violence in the home.
