The small tight-knit Northland community of Moerewa did it doubly hard this winter with a big storm causing flooding and damage to the surrounding area.
So Westpac decided to show our support by shouting locals to a free day out with bouncy castles, live music, food, drinks, candy floss and face painting at Nisbet Park on 29 August.
Along with 700 sausages, the community was given bottled water, fizzy drinks and “Westpac Jaffas”, plus a further 180 sausages and bags of Jaffas were specially cooked and sent along to Moerewa School for students who were unable to make it on the day.
A few days later, another community day was also held at the Kaitaia Market which was also a success.
Both events were sponsored by The Westpac New Zealand We Care Fund, which is a quick response fund so that should tragedy strike somewhere within the country, whether in the form of a natural disaster or a human tragedy or any other unfortunate event, Westpac can react immediately and proactively.
