Wellington’s iconic Westpac Stadium is turning 15 on Saturday and will open its doors for everyone to celebrate.
The Stadium will be open from 10am to 3pm for punters to test their sporting skills on the pitch or wander through the changing rooms to see where their favourite sporting stars prepare before the big matches.
Along with lots of other activities, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter will be landing in the bowl at midday (subject to operational requirements).
A free hop-on, hop-off bus service, sponsored by Go Wellington, will take visitors to the stadium’s closest stop, the Wellington Railway Station. Plus, the stadium car park will be free for attendees that day.
Later in the evening, Wellington will celebrate with a 'Big Birthday Party' from 5pm to 7pm, with Dave Dobbyn and the Orpheus Choir kicking it off at Parliament Grounds along with a spectacular 3D light and sound show that brings the city's history to life.
