When the Malhop brothers Alan and Harold started taking people out on their jet boat in 1958 in Queenstown, they probably didn’t realise they were igniting the adventure tourism industry the town is now world famous for.

Now run by Shaun and Sally Kelly, the Kawarau Jet (or KJet for short) is still going strong.

With prime location right on the beautiful lakefront, KJet’s tours take tourists down the Kawarau River and up the Shotover. An hour long, 43km journey that involves speed, spins and a little bit of splash.

We had a chat with Shaun while out on the Lake and then got the chance to experience the ride ourselves. Check it out:
