  1. Reduce your repayments to cover interest for six months – Your repayments will reduce to cover the interest portion of your regular repayment only and not the principal, so your regular repayments will reduce for six months. At the end of this period, your regular repayment amount will increase.
  2. Defer loan repayments for six months – Your repayments will stop for six months, but the unpaid interest during this period will be added to the balance of your loan. Please note your regular repayment amount will increase at the end of this deferment period, and you will pay more interest over the term of your loan.

Westpac Life home loan repayment insurance – important information

If you have home loan repayment insurance underwritten by Westpac Life-NZ-Limited, attached to your home loan (e.g. Flexicover), any insurance premiums will continue to be deducted and (if paid from your loan account) interest will continue to be charged on the premium amount.
