Kiwis are now able to view their faces in a colourful collage enveloping The People’s Chopper.

The impressive artwork of everyday people forms a new skin around one of the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopters as part of an initiative for May’s Westpac Chopper Appeal.

Those who donated online at www.chopperappeal.co.nz during the appeal had the unique opportunity to upload their Facebook profile picture which would then be printed on the helicopter, making it ‘The People’s Chopper’.

Westpac’s Acting Director of Corporate Affairs, Grant Fleming, says the concept of wrapping the chopper with the faces of the Appeal’s online supporters was Westpac’s way of paying homage to those who donated to the crucial service.

“New Zealand’s rescue helicopters rely on donations from everyday Kiwis, so for this year’s Chopper Appeal we wanted to give these people a spot on the side of a rescue helicopter to really bring the concept to life in a visual way.”

The People’s Chopper will be around for New Zealanders to check out throughout June including at the National Fieldays at Mystery Creek located onsite at the Westpac stand D66/D68.

Crew of the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter will around between 10.00am and 2.00pm to answer any questions and talk about the importance of having access to a 27/4-rescue helicopter service, 365 days a year.

You can also look out for photos and video of The People’s Chopper on Westpac’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
