What do I need to apply for a personal loan?

Find out what information and documents you'll need to complete your personal loan application.

Information needed to complete your application

In the application we’ll ask you a few questions about your finances and personal details.

Once you’ve completed the application, we’ll also need to see some documents, as listed below. For those of you applying on-line, we’ll contact you about the best way to get these to us.

1. Identification

Click here for a list of acceptable verification documentation.

2. Proof of your income

If we can see income deposits into your Westpac account this may be all we need. Otherwise we’ll need one of the following:

  • a recent bank statement showing your last three consecutive income deposits; or
  • a current payslip showing your annual income or your last three consecutive payslips; or
  • an original, signed and current letter from your employer confirming your income details and term of employment

3. Other loan statements

If you are refinancing existing debts we will want to see your bank and/or finance company original statements showing repayments for the last 3 months.

Additional information for non-Westpac customers

Non-Westpac customers will also need to supply:

Proof of your current address

Some banking history

We'll need to see bank statements for the last 3 months. If you have online banking you can print those off when you visit us in the branch.
