Staff volunteer days

Our goal
75% of Westpac employees using their volunteer day each by 2012.
How are we doing so far?
A staff survey undertaken in September 2010, showed 51% of staff used their paid volunteer leave this year.
Why does this matter?
Westpac staff are the heart and soul of our commitment to community projects. Volunteer days allow our people to support a charity they feel passionate about and to inspire others to think about what they could do.
Multiply one day by about 5,500 Westpac staff and the result is the equivalent of 15 years’ full-time work devoted to good causes every year.
What is Westpac doing right now?
Westpac allows all employees to take one day off each year to support the community organisations and activities they care about - from helping out at a local school to organised beach clean ups.
The staff volunteer day is a paid day and doesn’t come out of annual leave allowance.
What can you do?
You can make a difference today by
getting everyone in your workplace to suggest and vote on a cause you will all support. Then make that your fundraising focus for the year
supporting your local Westpac branch with their Volunteer Day initiatives
enquiring about volunteer days at your local Westpac branch
brainstorming more ideas and let us know about them.
