Information on how to configure your browser settings to use Online Banking with browser version Firefox 3.6

How to register for Online Banking

Settings you will need to configure for Firefox 3.6
You’ll need to configure these settings to use Online Banking with Firefox 3.6
> JavaScript
> cookies
> your security settings
> download the latest version of Firefox
Enabling JavaScript in your browser
JavaScript must be enabled in your browser before you can login and use Online Banking functionality.
Step one—getting ready
  • select 'Tools' from the menu bar
  • select 'Internet Options..' from the drop down list
  • the window in figure 1 will now be displayed.
Step two—checking JavaScript is enabled
  • click on the ‘Content’ icon in the top menu
  • the screen in figure 2 will now be displayed
  • make sure the option 'Enable JavaScript' is ticked.
Note: This applies to Firefox running on all supported operating systems. When Firefox is installed, this setting is enabled by default. This could change with future Firefox releases.

Enabling cookies in your browser
We use session cookies for security. Each time you perform a transaction or view a new page on our secure server, a message is sent to the server to authenticate the request.
These session cookies are
  • not permanently stored on your computer
  • deleted when you log out of Online Banking.
You need to enable cookies in your browser to use Online Banking.
Step one—getting ready
  • select 'Tools' from the menu bar
  • select 'Options...' from the dropdown list
  • choose the 'Privacy' icon (see figure 3).
Step two—checking session cookies are turned on  
  • Select “Use custom settings for history” from the “Firefox will:” section (see figure 4)
  • On the right click on the “Exceptions” button
  • The dialogue box in figure 5 will be displayed
  • Enter sec.westpac.co.nz in the address field and click on the ‘Allow for Session” button
  • Click on “Cole” and “OK” in the next dialogue box” button

Ensuring compliance of your security settings
These settings will make sure your browser complies with our 128-bit SSL security standards.
Step one—getting ready
  • select 'Tools' from the menu bar
  • select 'Options...' from the dropdown list
  • choose the 'Advanced' icon
  • figure 6 will be displayed.
Step two—checking your security settings
  • click on the ‘Encryption’ tab to view the options (see figure 7)
  • make sure that 'Use SSL 3.0' is enabled
  • click 'OK'.
Final steps
Once you have finished configuring your browser settings, please close and then re-open your browser.
