How long does it take to Switch my account to Westpac?
We'll call you back within 24 hours of receiving the online form to get the switch underway.  After you have signed the paperwork and had your ID validated at a branch, we'll send the paperwork to our dedicated switching team. We'll do this within 24 hours and send you a text when the request has been sent to your current bank.  It usually takes up to 5 working days for us to receive the information back from them.  Once we get it, we'll set up your direct debits and automatic payments and send you a text to let you know that your account is ready to use.
What happens if I want to transfer my salary to Westpac?
When we call you back, we'll ask you whether you want us to arrange for your salary to be paid into your new Westpac account. If you do, all you need to do is take details of your employer with you to the branch and we'll contact them directly on your behalf.
What happens if any bill payments come out of my new account before my salary is paid in?
When you come into the branch, we'll help you work out the right date to switch over your payments and DDs to coincide with your salary being paid into your account.  We'll fill out an employer's letter with you which we can either post to your employer or you can give it to them instead.  If for whatever reason your salary hasn't been paid into your account by the time a bill payment is due, the bill will not be paid. However, the important thing to remember is that it is your responsibility to ensure that your employer changes your bank account details. If you are having any difficulties just give us a call.
What happens if it takes the other bank longer than 5 days to respond?
Occasionally, it might take longer than the standard 5 working days for your current bank to provide us with the necessary information to switch your account. If this happens, we'll get in touch.
What happens if I miss my branch appointment?
If you can't make your appointment at the branch or miss it, don't worry! We will have already set up your account in our system when we called you so all you have to do is give us a call on 0800 881 133 or pop into your local branch and we'll make another appointment.
I already have a Westpac account. Can I still use this form to apply for something else?
Of course! You can complete this form or give us a call.
I want to switch some other products to Westpac. How do I do that?
Easy. Just click on the 'additional services' box on the form and check the boxes for the services you are interested in. We've tried to keep the form as simple as possible but anything is missing, just mention it to us when we call you back.
