Whether you’re starting your first year or you’re buried deep in the fifth year of a double degree, the Student Pac has got all your banking essentials to help make managing your finances just that little bit easier.
Get the essentials
- an Easy Access account with no monthly account maintenance or transaction fees*
- an Online Saver account with no monthly account maintenance or transaction fees*
- a Debitplus Visa card or a Westpac Eftpos/ATM card
- apply for a credit card or interest‐free overdraft of up to $1000 combined in your first year (max credit card limit of $500) and up to $2000 combined in your second and subsequent years (max credit card limit of $1000)**

It’s a tailored account only available to students and graduates. It keeps more money in your back pocket with less money on fees.
You’ll save heaps with:
- no monthly account maintenance fee
- no electronic transaction fees
- no manual transaction fees
The free stuff
With Student Pac you won’t get charged for:
- Westpac ATM transaction fees
- Eftpos transaction fees.
- your first year’s annual Debitplus Visa card fee
- Westpac Online Banking transfers and bill payments on your Easy Access account
- the first five calls with Phone Banking each month
- your first year annual fee on your new Westpac credit card (if you apply for and receive one)
- manual transactions with your Easy Access account
- the establishment fee for your student overdraft (if approved)
Charges for Student Pac
Some of the things you will be charged for are:
- Phone Banking: 50c per call after the first five calls per month
- Mobile Banking and txt alerts: 25c per txt plus your mobile provider’s usual txt charges
- using another bank’s ATM: $1 per transaction
- setting up and amending automatic payments: $2 if you do it online or $5 if you do it over the phone or in branch
- student overdraft facility: $5 monthly line of credit charge
- unarranged overdraft: $15 per month plus debit interest^^
^^Charged on the last business day of the month.
Do I qualify for Student Pac?
To reap the benefits of Student Pac you will need to meet all the following:
- a New Zealand resident
- a full‐time tertiary student
- studying a NZQA approved tertiary course
- taking a course that lasts at least one semester (minimum 12 weeks)
- receiving your student loan, allowance or any other income paid into your Easy Access account
Also, if your application is approved, you’ll need to have any income you earn paid straight into your Easy Access account.

Graduate Pac
Graduates aka. tertiary veterans need something a little more when it comes to banking compared to the average student, that’s where the Graduate Pac steps in.
What’s included
- an Easy Access account with no monthly account maintenance or transaction fees*
- your choice of an Online Saver or Online Bonus Saver account
- a Debitplus Visa card or a Westpac Eftpos/ATM card
What else can you get?
- opportunity to apply for credit of up to $2,000 that can be split between either a credit card (maximum credit card limit of $1,000) or an interest free overdraft**
- apply for a personal loan up to $10,000 at a discounted interest rate with up to five years to pay it back**
